
Come out to Chess Club at Vital Spaces! First meeting is November 20th! This is a friendly, casual space for those of all ages and skill levels to learn and practice chess, as well as enjoy live music and create chess- (or other-) inspired art.
What: Open chess play alongside live music from a variety of artists. Boards and tables will be available – feel free to play casual games, experiment with chess variants (ask us about Bughouse!), or even set up impromptu tournaments.
Who: Everyone! Newbies, grandmasters, and everyone in between are all welcome here.
When: 1st and 3rd Thursdays, 6-8pm
Where: 1600 St. Michael’s Drive – The Annex
jessi, a chess fanatic/kids’ chess coach in a recent life, will provide lessons for newcomers anytime and may even facilitate study sessions on occasion.
Live music will be provided by Nicky Schott.
Nicky Schott has been a freelance musician since he was 16, playing everything from rock, jazz, musicals, classical, hiphop, folk, electronic, etc. Over the past few years he has been interested in improvising music for a variety of events/spaces; he’d love to play for your function!
