Store is the result of two months’ work that was created during Jamison Chās Banks’ time at the Vital Spaces studio in the Spring of 2019. Banks’ objective was to create individual works as memory snapshots that pertained to commerce and held a certain significance from various phases of his own memory. Ideas of labor, consumerism, advertising, and marketing permeate the work, but the focus is about the memorable connections we make to stores and the items held within it. It is the artist’s hope that through this temporary installation, the viewer will reexamine their own memories connected to these somewhat universal storeroom items and places, and make simple acknowledgements about ideas that are providing a service for community.
What is stored in the store?
Join us for a benefit exhibition and sale of original works on paper by Frank Ettenberg, beloved Santa Fe artist. All sales will go to support Ettenberg's care at a memory care facility here in Santa Fe.
The show will also feature pieces in Ettenberg’s extensive collection, including works by John Connell, Gene and Dana Newman, Sam Scott, Joe Waldrum, Reg Loving, Steve Catron, and others. The sale of this collection offers an unparalleled opportunity to collect a piece of Santa Fe history, as it includes some of the most important local artists working from the 1980s through today.
